A mother’s love endures

While COVID-19 has placed barriers between friends and families, nothing can overcome the power of motherly love. From drive in church services and ice cream in Bath, to strolls along the shores of the Pamlico and the fields of Beaufort County, children and adults alike took the time to celebrate mom this weekend. While greeting cards, flowers and other special gifts are all ways to show mom how much one cares, the love between mothers and their children, as shown in these photos, is the greatest gift of all.

FOUR GENERATIONS: It’s rare to have four generations in one picture, but this one of Elsie Gargaro, her great granddaughter Sanniah, her daughter Lisa Smith-Gargaro, and her granddaughter, Brianna Smith, is definitely a keeper. (Lisa Smith-Gargaro)

SPECIAL VISIT: For Lisa Williams, a visit from her son, Cutler Respess, proved a special Mother’s Day treat. (Lisa Williams)

MOTHERLY LOVE: Jennifer Latham and Amy Latham share a Mother’s Day smile. (Jennifer Latham)

ALL SMILES: Brandie Keech and Christopher Warren cuddle up on the couch with their dog Maya. (Joshua Keech)

HANGING OUT WITH GRANDMA: While the extended family didn’t get together for Mother’s Day, Carolyn Asby’s granddaughters, Mica and Maci were able to get back scratches from grandma on Mother’s Day. (Carolyn Asby)

NEW FAMILY: Local musician Nannette Garrett and her daughter, Julia Furlough, show off the newest addition to their family, a pup called Ricco. (Nannette Garrett)

SWEET TREAT: Amanda Boyd, right, treated her mom, Bobbi Cox, to ice cream from the Quarter Deck Marina in Bath on Sunday afternoon after a drive in church service that morning. (Amanda Boyd)

MOTHER AND SONS: Larry Howard, Debra Howard and Nicholas Howard, of Chocowinity, spent some quality time together over the weekend. (Debbie Howard)
